Domaine Gardiés, Côtes du Roussillon Blanc, Les Glacières, Roussillon, France

Producer Profile

Domaine Gardiés stands as one of the defining estates of the Roussillon, rooted in the wind-swept hills around Espira-de-l’Agly and the schist terraces of Vingrau and Tautavel.

The Gardiés family has farmed these landscapes for generations, gradually shaping a domaine known for precision, depth, and an unbroken connection to its terrain. Their vineyards lie between the Mediterranean and the foothills of the Corbières, where old bush vines cling to poor, stony soils that naturally limit yields and enhance concentration. The estate’s wines reflect this contrast of sun, altitude, and mineral tension, offering a modern expression of the region’s identity.

Viticulture

The grapes, grown in the clay‑limestone soils of Vingrau, are cultivated organically (certified since 2004) on vines yielding approximately 30 hl/ha. The blend comprises Grenache Blanc and Gris, Roussanne, and Macabeo, all hand‑harvested .

Winemaking

Direct pressing, followed by fermentation and eight months of ageing in demi‑muids (large French oak barrels). This technique retains freshness while imparting subtle texture and complexity.

Tasting Note

A pale straw hue and opens with pure, floral aromas of white fruits—think fresh apricot, peach and citrus—alongside a hint of delicate smoke. On the palate, it is lively and harmonious, offering crisp acidity, a mineral edge and a persistent, refreshing finish.

Food matching

Shellfish, grilled fish, scallops in cream sauce, linguine with clams, or lighter poultry dishes such as grilled veal chops with herbs.
