Thoroughly contemporary in its approach, Bella Modella offers fine yet affordable still wines and Prosecco.

Their range features the Modella Prosecco, a vibrant and fruit-filled wine with a delightfully frothy character — the very epitome of modern Prosecco. Alongside it sits a collection of still wines, including Pinot Grigio, Pinot Grigio Rosé, Lucido–Pinot Grigio, and Primitivo — all offering outstanding value, fresh contemporary style, and elegant presentation.

Viticulture

Lucido, also known as Catarratto Lucido, is a white grape variety integral to Sicilian viticulture, prized for its adaptability and historical significance in the region. Cultivated predominantly in the western parts of Sicily, particularly in the provinces of Trapani and Palermo, Lucido thrives in the island’s sun-drenched, dry climate and diverse soils, ranging from clay-limestone to volcanic. This grape is a clone of the broader Catarratto family, distinguished by its glossy, waxy skin, which contributes to its resilience against drought and disease. Viticultural practices often emphasize canopy management to control vigour and enhance grape ripening, as Lucido can produce high yields if not carefully managed. Harvest takes place in late August/ early September.

Winemaking

The grapes are soft-pressed and the must ferments for 15/20 days at a controlled temperature of 17/18 °C in steel tanks. The wine is then stored at 18/20 °C in steel tanks until the bottling.

Tasting Note

The model of a perfectly formed wine. Tropical and crisp citrus fruits, making this a refreshingly dry and zesty white wine.
